Well I have to say, I have been hospitalized St this facility four times in a row. Though they are way more harsh than peak view was, they actually tried to help me. Evan, one of the techs, he always found a way to make you happy weather it be painting your nails or just sitting and talking to you. I have to take away some stars from lack of relaxing and space though. They didn't keep the doors all day do if you did need just some quiet time to yourself to breathe you couldn't do it. You couldn't even sit in the hall. I do suggest sending your teen there for help though. If I lived in CO still I'd probably ask to go there since I need a cheaper long term facility
This is an amazing facility. i was sent here in 7th grade which was 2 years ago. they love keeping you safe. they try their best but when theirs disrespectful patients it makes their jobs a lot harder. they truly want to help you to get better. i was there for 6 months but it helped for a good year. its up to you if you take the information you've learned from this facility if your gonna get better.
They've been helpful for me, first time I feel like I've ever been listened to and actually helped rather than being treated like I've lost my mind.
I have a friend who works here. He is a good person and he does good things. There are good people here. Give them the benefit of the doubt.
I was placed at this facility by mistake. I was initially very angry about that fact, but I used my time there the best I could and tried to learn whatever valuable life information as possible while being as helpful as I could to other patients and staff. The staff at Cedar Springs is excellent. I was treated with respect and dignity, as were all of the other patients. I was observing the staff like a hawk, just waiting for them to slip up...and they never once slipped up. They have nerves of steel and I commend them for that. The food there is excellent...whoever cooks up the meals knows what they're doing and obviously takes pride in it. All of the patients there I spoke to felt the same about it. The only reason I gave only 4 stars is that it just isn't very clean. The unit in which I stayed was not swept (except by me) or mopped a single time the entire duration of my stay, and there was lots of dirt in the corners, filth on the windows, and I felt extremely gross after I left...couldn't wait to get a shower in my own home. All in all, although it wasn't appropriate for me to be admitted there...I learned some valuable things from the experience that I will always be grateful for.
They've been helpful for me, first time I feel like I've ever been listened to and actually helped rather than being treated like I've lost my mind.
Kathy myatt is absolutely amazing! She is the most compassionate & patient provider I have ever worked with. Amanda is exceptional as well, working hard to get me seen. Thank you Kathy, I'm now ready to deal with the most painful experience of my life....losing my husband to a murder. You've given me the trust and respect I needed to start opening up so I can being to heal.
Today I had an appointment with Kathy Myatt. She was one of the only psychiatrists I could get a hold of in Colorado Springs and I am happy to say I was extremely pleased with my visit. I was greeted by her excellent secretary and seen for my appointment promptly. Kathy Myatt is easy to talk to and very endearing to her patients. I would recommend Cedar Springs Hospital to anyone.
I have tried to get help in different places in different states, even in PR. I have gone through hell and back in my life like many others. This is the one place where I felt like someone actually cared about truly helping me. I’m not where I’m supposed to be but I’m nowhere where I was before thanks to the Doctor I see here. She is amazing! She is professional yet feels like you’ve known her for years. When I’m in that office I feel nothing but peace, and I feel like she genuinely cares about the issues I have and what caused them. I would recommend this place and my Doctor to anyone and everyone!
Outstanding. Kind, and skilled staff. Attentive and very multifaceted care with the best chance of recovery. We are so grateful.
As a director of a referring social services Counseling agency, we all must bear in mind that Cedar Springs Is an acute care/short term care mental health facility And Detox center, which helps a broad spectrum of patients. From children and adults who are suffering the ravages of physical, mental, and sexual abuse, to Prescription drug/opioid addiction,To people with behavioral and developmental disabilities. The staff, on any given shift, must Triage (That is, separate Patients based on need) And because many of the staff are getting training and Licensing based partly on the training and hours they are putting in for their degree or certification, there is naturally a rotation of staff. Any teaching hospital Will have this as an issue. I am not making excuses here, as I am sure that close friends and family only want the very best attention to be given to their loved ones who are in the midst of a mental health/behavioral health/addiction crisis. Anytime there is a standard of care issue, potential abuse, or any other problem, the patient or the family members/representative should be polite yet firm with whoever is the full charge nurse or Doctor on duty.Being rude and Clear communication in return. We tend to get back what we give… Any organization, from the military to a mental health institution, will be imperfect simply because it is made-upOf fallible, imperfect human beings. Cedarsprings does the best they can with what they've got. It's good that Colorado Springs and southern Colorado in general has a local mental health hospital that can treat most everyone in the community without dumping them off at a state mental hospital. Be watchful, be wary, and politely but firmly put your complaints in writing to the Colorado state department of regulatory agencies (DORA) if you feel that you or your loved ones have been missed treated. But just remember, all of these negative reviews must be put into context, and with each negative review there will Often be information that is withheld, such as severe drug and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, severe physical or sexual abuse issues, Criminal behavior involving law-enforcement, and risky behaviors which are not covered by Medicare/Medicaid/health insurance Which may necessitate discharge. I wish you all good mental health.
My 15 year old autistic daughter attended the adolescent PHP program. It was very beneficial for her. She learned distress tolerance and patience. I am very happy we decided to send her and I would recommend the program to anyone who is having difficulties with their child.
I have been through 3 rehab/detox facilities and this one is by far the cleanest and most helpful one. The staff were great and helped me whenever I needed a little extra assurance. I would definitely be recommending this Hospital to any of my friends if they were needing help or treatment, as I did in 2015/2016 time. Keep up the awesome work staff... You passed with flying colors in my book. 😉
my favorite staff was doctor Shores very good doctor helped me a lot and the staff are trained well but the one thing that got on my nerves was the reading or art teacher idk. She was very rude she should get fired she made me more angry when i was around her. Calling me names i forgot what she said. But the school is very unorganized good place but not the teacher.
High standard of care, acute stabilization only. Majority of involuntary patients would end up in jail if not a psych hospital. Likewise if you want to sign yourself out of voluntary heroin withdrawal, that's your right. You see babysitting but it's personal accountability
The staff is wonderful and my daughter felt safe and learned a lot!
It is never a good experience to have a loved one in a hospital, and I have had this one in several. I have never found nicer, more understanding people to deal with in this type of facility, than Cedar Springs. Let me give them a shout -out.
Very helpful, considerate and professional! Helped me in my time of crises
At first I did'nt like the place at all , but after realizeing the staff in the Birchwood complex were there to do the job they were meant to do I strongly suggest if you need help an admit to yourself thats what you need it was a place to really get the help you'll need!!!! I feel the people writeing bad reviews could'nt admit this. Thier living space is'nt like home, however I have been in alot worse places. Including Prison, Jails , Juvenile halls, an even local hospitals !!!! So I strongly suggest this place to those of you who can admit your in need of help. They will listen to your needs, an problems to the best of thier ability If you yourself are willing to recieve this help. I honestly hope if you need mental health needs, that you will give this place a chance to work with you. I thank you an your staff very much!!!! They even followed up after my release, which is more than most will do !!!
